 note = {This article proposes a new theory of L2 acquisition that nonnative speakers of Mandarin Chinese could practice as techniques for expanding their tonal range in the target language. Monosyllabic words articulated in textbook CDs as well as in live radio broadcasts served as media for in-depth voice analy-sis.
